I spent quite a bit of time looking through the options availabe lin the App Store for applications that I could use to edit PDFs. I was looking for something that would (at minimum) allow me to merge & split PDFs and remove links in the pdf. Finding a cheap or even free app that would split/merge apps wasn’t difficult— but they didnt have much functionaity beyond that— and in many cases the size of the file was increased astronomically (per reviews, or as for a couple of free apps- my experience).
I was willing to pay some money for an app that did what I wanted, but $40 (as many of the apps were) was a bit steap for my wants/needs (although still significantly cheaper than Adobe Acrobrat Pro which I’ve used via work). This application, I think, was worth the money— I felt $14 was a bit much, but depending on how much use you’ll get out of the application, it could be worth the expense.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with the app, I’d say I’d give it a 4.5 (but the overall ratings were low, and giving half a start isn’t possible, so I went with 5). As a quick summation of how I’ve found features:
- Merging: It works great— and does not bloat the file size like many apps
- Splitting: So far I haven’t gotten it to work with the “outline” option they boast, but otherwise it works fine.
- Extracting: It works great.
- Inserting Pages/Files: Perfect
All that said, I do hope the developers keep adding to the application. For one thing, the app tends to crash/stall with files over 15 MB— you can edit those files, you just have to work slowly or the app will crash (and crash, and crash). For another, I would quite like to be able to edit the text in the app. And lastly, I would like to be able to add bookmarks in the app (if there is currently such a feature, I’m surely missing it).
Overall, it’s a decent app— but it’s truly a middle of the road-cheaper option. If you need a lot of features, I fear a bigger app may be better.
